Sound b

Hi!!!
Do you know one of the best ways of helping our pupils to pronounce properly? Using phonics! You teach them how to pronounce each sound, so they learn how to pronounce all the words which have this sound. This activity is to practice sound b. I have created it using Task Magic (http://www.taskmagic.co.uk). They have to match the word with the correct picture. To do that, they should pronounce the word out loud, understand it and match it with the picture. They are practicing Speaking and Reading! And, of course, learning vocabulary!

Here you have a picture of the activity I created with TaskMagic. Try it, it’s very easy! I can’t share the activity with you, but I want you to see it at least.

Cheers!

Drawing Listenings!

Hello everybody!

We often practice Listening asking questions about the recording or talking about it orally. Why don’t we change this for once? The little ones love drawing! What do you think of make them draw what they listen to?

Let’s see an example. You can use this video with the first or the second grade of Primary. I have chosen a video about farm animals. They have to draw what they listen to:

They can use a paper like this: Paper
If you think there are too many animals, you can tell them to choose some of them. You have to make pauses to give them enough time to do the drawing.

Bye!

Healthy habits

Good morning!

Today’s activity is a questionnaire about healthy habits. Children can go around the school asking some questions about this topic (they can ask teachers and friends, but always in English), and writing down the answers in a table like this:  Table
They have to ask to five different people at least.
In class we will share our results and talk about how people could enjoy good health. They will have 10 compulsory questions to ask, but they are free to add as many as they want (they have to add 3 more questions at least). The compulsory questions would be:

1-      Name and age
2-     How often do you exercise?
3-     How many glasses of water a day do you drink?
4-     Do you have breakfast every day?
5-     What’s your favorite food?
6-     How often do you have sugary food?
7-     How many times a day do you eat fruit?
8-     How often do you eat vegetables?
9-     What do you eat more often?
10-  How many times a week do you have lunch or dinner in a restaurant?
11-
12-
13-

They are practicing Speaking with each other, Listening to understand the answers and Writing to think of the questions and write down the answers. This is just an example, they can do questionnaires about a lot of different topics, and it’s very easy to prepare, using Word or another program to provide them with a table they can print to write down the answers. But this is just a draft. When they are finished asking questions, they have to write the results in the computer.

I hope you liked it! See you!

GenWord

Good afternoon bloggers!
I want to show you an activity created by GenWord. I give you the link if you’re interested in using this generator: http://genmagic.org/generadores/genword/
You can create different activities for reading and writing, and your pupils will learn new vocabulary too! My activity is about plants. We are learning the parts of the plant in class, so I have created an activity in order to review the vocabulary. They have to read and understand the word, and then write it in the square below. I have used it in the second grade of Primary.

Unfortunately, I can’t save it to share it with you, so here you have a picture of the activity and I recommend you try the generator!

Bye!

HotPotatoes

Hello!
I have created a JCloze activity to practice past simple verbs. I think this activity could be used in the third grade of Primary; it depends on your school English level. You can use it in higher grades in order to review this tense as well. They have a text with gaps they have to fill in, and they have clues to help them. In the “?” button, they will find the verb in its infinitive form. They are practicing grammar and reading, because they have to read paying attention to choose the correct verb. But I think this activity could be used for listening too. The teacher could record the conversation and play it to the pupils, so they fill in the gaps according to what they listen to in the audio.
